Carlos is a Southern Californian native who has been passionately involved in music his entire life. Carlos and Cap met at the Santa Barbara City College in a physics of music class. After a couple recording sessions, Carlos and Cap found that they were inspirational to each other, much of the same influence, so Carlos Platon Tornes III and Carleton Edward Averill II launched. Carlos invited Averill into his local band “The Marketplace” and then Carlos, went on to a successful career as a songwriter and mentor, but beyond all others talents, live performance is among Carlos’ greatest strengths. Carlos began to doing coaching work with a duo “Aly and AJ” and in fact wrote a song for them with the idea of getting them back to their roots, sitting down and knocking out a solid ballad together for the sake of the pure music. That song went on to be Aly and AJ’s greatest hit, sold just shy of Platinum and wound up being the title track of Disney’s Ice Princess movie. Cap and Carlos continued getting together and recording and playing throughout their lifetime with the thought in mind of one day doing a vinyl LP. Life continued to get in the way on both sides. Finally, in 2014, Carlos and Cap decided to formally move forward with the project which is originally entitled “The Two Carls,” and eventually became “Old School,” with the addition of Warren and Clark the the performance band.
